21 Read Alouds to Cultivate Thankful Hearts

Happy November 1st! We have made it through Halloween Season and now find ourselves in the month of Thanksgiving (if you live in the U.S.). We tend to think more about being thankful during this month, but we really should be striving to live with grateful hearts everyday.

Over my years of teaching, it has become more and more evident to me that gratefulness does NOT come naturally for children. It is something that must be taught, practiced, re-taught, and practiced some more. Quite honestly, the same goes for adults!

One quick and easy way to teach the practice of thankfulness is by integrating read-alouds that spark discussion on the topic. I have compiled an in-depth list of options you may use in your classroom or with your own children at home.
